QCSO Presents the Resurrection Symphony

Quad City Choral Arts

To celebrate its 101st season, the Quad City Symphony Orchestra will present a work that hasn't been performed in the area for 27 years. Mahler's Symphony #2, known as the "Resurrection Symphony," will be held Saturday and Sunday.

Jon Hurty is director of the Handel Oratorio Society and the Quad City Choral Arts. He says they've been practicing every week since January.

The Handel Oratorio Society, which includes the Augustana Choir, and the Quad City Choral Arts, will perform during the last movement.

Hurty says it isn't a lot of singing, but requires concentration on every word.

More than 200 musicians and singers will perform the Resurrection Symphony this weekend. The performance on Saturday night will be held at the Adler Theatre and on Sunday afternoon at Centennial Hall.
