QC Corporate Games Coming in 2021

Next summer, the Iowa Sports Foundation will offer a new way for local companies to promote employee health and wellness. After collaborating with Visit Quad Cities and Davenport, the foundation will kick off the Quad Cities Corporate Games next year.

Matt Beatty, Chief Operating Officer of the Iowa Sports Foundation, says five years ago, it started the Des Moines Corporate Games after the Greater Des Moines Business Partnership asked for help. It's a two-month competition, with activities on evenings and weekends, and some virtual.

Spike ball is just one of many activities offered during corporate games.

The Quad Cities Corporate Games will be held in June and July with about 25 activities such as basketball, track and field, bowling, disc golf, cycling, spike ball, and a fitness walk.

The Iowa Sports Foundation is also working with local cities' parks and recreation departments where many events will be held. It also hopes to form partnerships with local businesses.

Beatty says companies pay a fee for their employees to participate, and small organizations can team up and split the fee. The Children's Therapy Center of the Quad Cities will receive a donation from part of the proceeds.

Registration for the Quad Cities Corporate Games will begin on December 1st, 2020. More information is at QCCorporateGames.org. The foundation also started holding games in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids last year.
