Stories of hunger and its impact on Iowa will be delivered to the legislature on Wednesday. The Iowa Food Bank Association plans to hand out postcards written by clients of its eight food banks across the state.
Some of the postcards were written by people served by the River Bend Foodbank in Davenport. Executive director, Mike Miller, says the goal is to "personalize" hunger.
Miller says along with reminding Iowa legislators about the seriousness of the problem, the food banks also want to build support for state funding to help buy food. And a proposal to exempt them from paying the state sales tax - something he thinks would help his budget a lot.
