Post Season Honors for Vikings

After finishing runner-up in the Division III postseason tournament, a player and the coach from the Augustana College men's basketball team have been honored. The website, D3hoops.com, has named guard Chrishawn Orange to its All-America fourth team, and chosen Grey Giovanine as national co-coach of the year.

Orange was the top scorer for the Vikings this year and a unanimous pick for the all conference first team.

After losing eight seniors and his top six players from last year’s squad, Giovanine  guided this year’s team, with just two seniors, to a share of the CCIW title, his eighth at Augustana—and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

He shares the national coach of the year honors with Eric Bridgeland from Whitman.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
