Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have been hogging the headlines, but there's more than just the presidential race to decide on Tuesday. Local residents can help determine who controls the US Senate and House, the Iowa and Illinois statehouses, and local county boards.
In both states an incumbent republican senator is running for re-election, and incumbents from both parties are on the ballot for the US House.
A change in one of two seats in the Iowa senate could determine who controls state government for the next two years or longer. And Illinois voters can back either Governor Bruce Rauner or House Speaker Mike Madigan in their battle for control.
Two seats will be filled on the 5-member Scott County Board, while 12 races will be decided for the 25-member Rock Island County Board.
Polls will be open in Iowa Tuesday from 7 am until 9 pm, while the hours will be 6 am to 7 pm in Illinois.
WVIK will carry live coverage of the results Tuesday night, local, state, and national.
