One Dead After I-74 Accident

A man from eastern Iowa is dead after Monday's accident on I-74 in the Quad Cities. On Tuesday, the Illinois State Police released the name of 78-year-old Marlin Hillyer of Bennett, Iowa. Three other people were injured in the Coal Valley crash.

Heading westbound on I-74 near the Quad City Airport, Hillyer's semi-truck lost control, travelled across the center median and rolled onto its side, blocking both eastbound lanes of I-74. Another truck and an SUV were not able to stop in time, and collided with the truck.

Hillyer's passenger, 76-year-old Patricia Hillyer, and the SUV driver, 24-year old Dylan Columbia of Kahoka, Missouri, have been treated for their injuries and released from the hospital.The name of the other truck driver has not been released; he is currently hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
