Despite the pandemic, one school in the Quad Cities continues to hold in-person classes five days a week. Rivermont Collegiate in Bettendorf has 200 students in pre-school through 12th grade, and as of its fourth week of classes no positive coronavirus cases.
Director of Admissions Phil Dunbridge says most of the credit should go to the families.
"We've done everything we can at school to keep them safe but most importantly these families are continuing those efforts at the end of the school day. Really being cautious with their families, making safe choices with their families on weekends, and after school, et cetera."
Only a few children have chosen to stay home and learn virtually, full time.
Students at the private school are tested for the virus every day, must wear masks, spend only limited time in the halls between classes, and are separated at lunch.
Dunbridge says there probably will be a positive case eventually, but for now, they'll continue being careful and holding in-person classes five days a week.
