A former governor, senator, and secretary of agriculture has joined the board of directors of Deere and Company.
Today the company announced the election of Mike Johanns.
Johanns just finished serving one term in the US Senate, from Nebraska, where he also served as governor. And from 2005 to 2007, he was Secretary of Agriculture under President George W. Bush.
In a press release, Deere chairman and ceo Sam Allen said his "wide range of expertise" in agriculture, banking, commerce, foreign trade, law, and government will be a valuable asset to the board.
