Hundreds of acres near the Quad Cities, and overlooking the Mississippi River, are now ready for development. Wednesday Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds toured the property and officially added the Anderson Green Business Park to the state's list of "certified sites."
Co-owner and property manager Marijo Anderson says that means the 400 acres are ready for new development.
"All the archaeological studies are done, all the geo-tech studies, all the soil samping. There are 85 elements within the Iowa Economic Development certification process and we have completed all 85 of those, including re-zoning and annexation."
Her family first considered putting up new homes.
"If it were a corporate type of headquarters, and a good land steward that would have features for the general public - water features, bike paths, and trails - that would be so much better because then everybody can enjoy this piece of Iowa."
It's located between the towns of LeClaire and Princeton, and along Highway 67.
There's also a convenant protecting an endangered species living on the property, the Long Eared Indiana Bat, prohibiting the taking down of any trees from April to October when the bats are nesting and raising their young.
