The interim superintendent of the Moline schools has had his contract extended. Monday night, the board of education appointed Lanty McGuire to lead the district for the 2016-2017 school year.
After David Moyer resigned last June, the board chose McGuire to be the interim superintendent for one year.
He's worked for the Moline schools for 20 years, most recently as assistant superintendent for human resources, and before that, assistant superintendent for special education.
A press release says the school board will continue its discussions about how to hire a permanent superintendent for the 2017-2018 school year.
