Moline City Administrator Search Begins

Two months after Moline's city administrator retired, the search for his replacement is ready to begin. A recruiter from the search firm hired by the city will spend the day Friday meeting with city staff and leaders.

7th Ward Alderman, Mike Waldron, is one of two members of the city council who will work with the recruiter from GovHR USA. He says the first step is to list the qualities and attributes they're looking for, then the recruiter can start looking for candidates.

"Obviously we want someone who's experienced - who knows municipal government, financing, budgets, and human relations. And because we're here in Moline, economic development is a priority for us."

Meetings will be held Friday with the mayor, city council, and city staff, plus Renew Moline and the chamber of commerce.

Former city administrator Lew Steinbrecher retired in November.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
