The Mississippi River has reached flood stage in the Quad Cities, and will go up some more. But not as much as some recent forecasts had suggested.
Monday at midday, at Lock and Dam 15, the river was at flood stage, and is expected to rise half a foot higher, and crest on Thursday. It should then hold at that level through early next week.
As recently as Friday, the forecast had been for a crest one foot over flood stage.
In Dubuque on Monday, the Mississippi is eight-tenths of a foot below flood stage, and it should hold near that level for a week.
Minor flooding is occurring along the Rock River at Joslin. The river crested Sunday about two-tenths of a foot over flood stage, and has since begun to fall slowly.
The level at Moline is still half a foot below flood stage, and it's expected to drop very slowly during the coming week.
