The mayors of Davenport and Dubuque met with President Trump Wednesday to talk about the Mississippi River and its possible inclusion in a future federal infrastructure bill. Frank Klipsch and Roy Buol were members of a delegation from the Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative.
According to a press release from the Initiative, the five mayors want to make sure a plan they presented last year to the White House is incorporated into the administration's infrastructure plans - to keep the river clean because it's the main water source for thousands of people, to promote commercial navigation, and to pay for all necessary improvements.
Along with Klipsch and Buol, the other mayors in the delegation came from Memphis, Baton Rouge, and Saint Gabriel, Louisiana.
