Mississippi River Crest Passes QC

National Weather Service
Monday morning's level in the QC

The Mississippi River crested in the Quad Cities on Sunday, and has fallen slightly since then. The National Weather Service says the "high point" was 1 1/2 feet over flood stage, and it should drop to near flood stage by this weekend.

The river crested in Dubuque on Friday and has since started fall, and it's cresting Monday in Clinton, just below flood stage.

In Muscatine, the Mississippi is also cresting Monday at nearly 2 feet over flood stage. And moderate flooding, 1 to 2 feet over flood stage, is predicted this week for Illinois City, New Boston, Keithsburg, and Burlington.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
