Miracle Field Coming To Davenport

Soon there will be an all inclusive sports field in the Quad Cities. On Saturday the Parks and Rec department will break ground for the Miracle Field in Davenport.

For five years the department has been fundraising for the project that will cost 850 to 900 thousand dollars. And it has almost reached its goal.

Davenport Parks and Rec Director Chad Dyson says the Miracle Field will have a rubberized surface and no raised bases or tripping hazards.

"It is an inclusive play sports field designed to give children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to participate in a barrier-free sports setting."

The Miracle Field will be located in Prairie Heights Park which already has three ball fields and has space for another field.

Construction of the project has already started and should be finished next May.

The official groundbreaking celebration will take place at Prairie Heights Park at 9 a.m. this Saturday (5600 Eastern Avenue).
