Mallards Make the Playoffs

With help from another team, the Quad City Mallards have made the playoffs.

The Mallards are in third place in the ECHL's Central Division, and when Toledo beat Tulsa on Sunday, that left the Mallards with an insurmountable lead in the standings over Tulsa which is in 5th place.
The top four teams in each division qualify for the playoffs.

The regular season ends on April 8th, and soon after the Quad Cities will play a best-of-seven series in the opening round of the post season.

This is the 5th year in a row, the Mallards have reached the playoffs.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
