Local Health Official Says Don't Stop Fighting COVID-19

WVIK News

For the first time since March 21st, today Rock Island County has no new cases of COVID-19 to report.

The health department says the case total is the same as Monday at 746, with 28 deaths, and two people in the hospital.

Janet Hill, from the Rock Island County Health Department, says it's a "milestone in our fight against COVID-19."

But, while everyone has worked hard to slow the spread, she says all of us must continue to social distance, clean hands frequently, and take other precautions because the novel coronavirus is still in the Quad Cities.

And everyone wants to prevent a second spike in cases.

One new COVID-19 case was reported in Scott County today for a total of 394 cases, 346 patients recovered, and 10 deaths. (Hospitalizations are reported by region in Iowa while Illinois reports them by county.)

Combining the statistics from the two counties, the total number of positive cases has reached 1,140 with 38 deaths.
