This afternoon, veterans and their families celebrated Veteran's Day at the American Legion Post 227 in East Moline.
The keynote speaker was Chaplain Major Charles Scott from the Joint Munitions Command on Arsenal Island. He said it's important that we honor veterans not just on Veteran's Day, but everyday.
"Ronald Reagan in 1983 in a radio address to the nation said that veteran's know better than anyone else the price of freedom, for they have suffered the scars of war. We can offer them no better tribute than to protect what they have won for us."
As part of the celebration, Post 227 also unveiled an art installation on the outside of its building with logos representing each branch of the military.
Near the end of the program, "Taps" and a rifle salute honored veterans who lost their lives defending the United States.
