A local hospital is inviting people to learn how to prevent someone from bleeding to death. Tomorrow, Genesis and MEDIC EMS will host classes called, "Stop the Bleed" in Davenport.
Trauma Nurse Coordinator, Andrea Bladel, says many people may be uncomfortable trying to help someone who's bleeding profusely after a crash or shooting. But knowing what to do can help. And Bladel hopes more people will become "immediate responders" and learn how to stop bleeding, along with CPR and other first aid skills. That'll help first responders do their jobs.
She and other medical personnel will teach four sessions of the "Stop the Bleed" class tomorrow, starting at 10 am at MEDIC EMS at 1204 High Street in Davenport. It's adjacent to Genesis hospital.
