The new Rhythm City Casino Resort in Davenport doesn’t open until Thursday, but employees, contractors and their families got a sneak peak Sunday.
The $110 million project near the interchange of I-80 and I-74 has been in the works for three and a half years and took one year to build. It has a 143-room hotel, 15-hundred seat event center, and nearly 34,000 feet of gaming space.
General Manager Mo Hyder says he’s excited to finally open the new location to the community and that it will stimulate the economy by drawing in locals and tourists.
The current Rhythm City casino boat on the Mississippi River will be closed within 90 days of the new resort’s opening. Rhythm City CEO Dan Kehl says the land-based casino opened up more options.
City officials haven’t decided what to do with that part of the downtown Davenport riverfront yet.
