It's been seven days, and one of the Quad Cities television stations is still missing from many homes. Following a breakdown in negotiations over a new contract, Mediacom blacked out KWQC, Channel 6, from its cable line-up here, and in Clinton.
The issue is how much Mediacom should pay KWQC and its parent company, Media General, for the right to carry its programs.
The station's vice president and general manager, Ken Freedman, says he remains positive a settlement will be reached. And he hopes the giant cable company will recognize the value his station brings to the community and to Mediacom.
He's especially unhappy last week's storm coverage by KWQC was not available to many local residents because of the blackout.
Also affected are Media General stations in ten other states.
No update on the dispute yet from Mediacom.
