KWQC Still Not Back on Cable

Two weeks, and counting. That's how long KWQC-tv, the Quad Cities NBC affiliate, has been off the Mediacom cable system.

Mediacom dropped the Davenport-based station July 14th when it could not reach agreement with its parent company, Media General, on a new contract.
The dispute is over how much the cable company should pay Media General for the right to carry KWQC programs.

There is a glimmer of hope though. When contacted today, a spokesman for Mediacom said, "both sides have been talking more frequently this week and have both moved closer." But there's no deal to announce yet.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
