Keys Loses at Wimbledon

Madison Keys is done at Wimbledon after the second round, her earliest loss at the tournament. The 17th-seeded American, and native of Rock Island, lost to Camila Giorgi of Italy, 6-4, 6-7, 6-1.

Keys was a quarterfinalist at the All England Club in 2015, and her three other previous appearances ended in the third or fourth round.

But she's struggled this year with her left wrist. She had an operation last October, missed the start of this season, then needed a second surgery on the wrist last month after the French Open to remove scar tissue.

Now rated 86th, Giorgi's best performance at Wimbledon was advancing to the fourth round in 2012.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
