I-74 Headache

Getting across the Mississippi River on the I-74 Bridge could be a headache for some drivers for the next 3 weeks. The Iowa Department of Transportation says work on the pavement will restrict traffic to one lane on the Illinois-bound side from today through August 9th.

The lane closure for Bettendorf to Moline motorists will be in effect both day and night.

The problem won't be quite as serious for the other side of the bridge - drivers headed to Iowa will only have to worry about lane restrictions at night, from 8 pm to 6 am, Sunday through Thursday.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
