House Will Lead Illinois Democrats

submitted
/
Doug House

The leader of democrats in the Illinois Quad Cities is now going to help lead fellow democrats statewide. Doug House, chairman of the Rock Island County Democratic Party, has been selected as interim president of the Illinois Democratic County Chairmen's Association.

At the association's meeting last weekend in Springfield, House was chosen to replace Mike Mathis from Macoupin County who gave up the job to run for state representative.

House will serve the rest of his term, until next May.

He follows in the footsteps of long-time Rock Island County chairman, John Gianulis, who led the state association for about 20 years, starting in 1985.
House has been a precinct committeeman for 30 years, and chair of the Rock Island County democrats for 3 years.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
