Gun and Robbery Arrests

The effort to reduce violent crime in the Iowa Quad Cities has resulted in charges against 19 people. Tuesday  the US Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa announced 19 men face a total of 38 gun, robbery, and drug charges.

That follows similar charges against 25 people announced in August.

The cases are part of a federal program called Project Safe Neighborhoods that brings together local, state, and federal law enforcement to reduce violent crime. And these cases were investigated by the Davenport and Bettendorf police departments, Scott County Sheriff, FBI, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

US Attorney Marc Krickbaum says 13 of the 19 defendants have been arrested so far, the other cases remain sealed pending arrest.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
