Graduation at Augustana

Augustana College

Two graduates of Augustana College will be the featured speakers during commencement weekend.

At the baccalaureate service on Sunday morning Paul Bailie will give the sermon - he graduated in 2004 and is now pastor at a church in Eagle Pass, Texas. The service begins at 10 am in Centennial Hall.

Sunday afternoon, Al Bowman will address the 157th commencement ceremony at the iWireless Center in Moline. He's a member of Augustana's class of 1975, and retired as president of Illinois State University in 2012.

The ceremony honoring 485 new graduates, and their families, begins at 3 pm.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
