Gold Coin for QC Salvation Army

Someone has brightened the holiday season for the Salvation Army. Thursday a Liberty gold coin was dropped in a red kettle at the Moline Walmart store.

The estimated value of the coin is 600 dollars.

There are just two days left for the Red Kettle Campaign - Friday and Saturday - 8 pm Saturday is the deadline. But the Salvation Army will continue fundraising for its holiday campaign into the new year - through January 15th.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
