Garrison Welcomes New Commander

US Army Garrison

The Army Garrison on Arsenal Island has a new leader. This week, Colonel Todd Allison became commander, succeeding Colonel Stephen Marr.

Allison comes to the Garrison from the Army Sustainment Command on the island, where he served as deputy chief of staff.

After two years, Marr is leaving the island to serve overseas.

Instead of a formal ceremony on Memorial Field, the change of command was held indoors with just a few people in attendence because of COVID-19, and was broadcast live over Facebook.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
