Galesburg Renames VA Clinic After Lane Evans

Tri States Public Radio

The Veterans Administration is honoring former Illinois Congressman Lane Evans. Friday, the VA Clinic in Galesburg will formerly change its name to the Lane A. Evans VA Clinic.
Spokesman Jon Pruett says Evans was a long-time advocate for veterans. And, after his death at the age of 63 in November, renaming the clinic seemed appropriate.
Evans served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. And, made an impact in Congress by helping veterans exposed to Agent Orange.

Evans represented the 17th Congressional District of Illinois for more than 20 years. And, Pruett says the district's current Representative, Cheri Bustos, and US Senator Dick Durbin led the effort to rename the clinic.
The renaming ceremony begins at noon on Friday.
