First Lady Michelle Obama Visits Iowa for Braley Campaign Rally

Oct 21, 2014

First Lady Michelle Obama believes voting is the most important investment young Iowans can make in their future. Today, she visited the University of Iowa to campaign for Congressman, U.S. Senate candidate, and fellow democrat Bruce Braley.

With just two weeks until Election Day, the First Lady encouraged students to vote early. She says her husband won in 2008 and 2012 thanks to women, minorities, and young people--usually known for low participation.

She says special interest groups can buy campaign ads in Iowa, but not votes, and that Braley shares the same values as young Iowans--like affordable education and job creation.

The visit to Iowa City is one of several campaign stops that First Lady Michelle Obama will make this week, including Minnesota this afternoon and Colorado on Thursday, to campaign for democratic candidates.
