Finding Directors for Hope Creek

Rock Island County

Now that a selection committee has been chosen, it will soon start going over applications for the new board of directors for the Rock Island County nursing home. Last night the county board appointed two members to the committee - one from each party.

They are republican Rod Simmer from Rock Island and democrat Ginny Shelton from Moline.
The other two members of the selection committee are the administrator of the Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline, Trudy Whittington, and the chief judge of the 14th Circuit, Walter Braud.
A county board spokesman says applications are still being accepted, and committee members will probably start reviewing them later this week. The first board of directors for Hope Creek could be chosen by the end of April.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
