Final Community Meeting in Mercer County

A long effort to plan the future of Mercer County is about to move into the next phase. An organization called Mercer County Better Together will hold the 11th and final community meeting Wednesday night in New Boston.

Project coordinator, Kyle McEwen, says the group is using these meetings and written surveys to encourage county residents to share their visions, hopes, concerns, and ideas.

"We're here to understand what projects would make the most sense and have the greatest impact in Mercer County. And then use our resources to partner with funding sources to get these things accomplished."

The first community meeting was held in February, and after the final one in New Boston, the Mercer County Better Together Steering Committee will tabulate the surveys, and in August begin discussing which projects to pursue.

More information, and the survey are available online at mc better together.org.
Wednesday night's meeting begins at 6, at the New Boston Community Center.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
