Over the weekend, the Mississippi River crested earlier and lower than expected. The City of Davenport says on Sunday, it reached nearly half a foot above flood stage, and now the water level is slowly falling.
Employees closed a few streets last week, and they'll re-open them as the water recedes. But the debris left behind won't be cleaned up until next week.
On the other hand, most of Davenport's riverfront trail should be clean and fully re-opened late this week. The only section that won't be re-opened is located between Marquette Landing and Credit Island.
Also, the boat dock at Marquette Landing will be accessible later this week. And Credit Island should re-open on Wednesday.
