As the pandemic continues and local residents continue to contribute, the Quad Cities Community Foundation has announced more grants from its Disaster Recovery Fund. The fourth round this year totals nearly 41,000 dollars and is divided among seven organizations.
They include the Red Cross, Christian Care, Lutheran Services in Iowa, the Salvation Army, the School Health Link, and the Rock Island Regional Office of Education to help families connect to the internet.
The Azubuike African American Council for the Arts will also receive money "to educate and empower underrepresented communities during the pandemic."
The foundation says Lynn and Dennis Quinn of Bettendorf have agreed to match every dollar donated up to 50,000 with two dollars of their own, that will add up to 150,000 dollars.
So far the Disaster Recovery Fund has raised 1.1 million dollars, and received requests totaling more than three million dollars.
