Eleven Candidates for Dav. Sch. Bd.

The Davenport school board will hold short interviews on Thursday with eleven possible new members. They submitted letters of interest by Tuesday's deadline for the vacancy created by the recent death of long-time board member Clyde Mayfield.

Each of the eleven will have 15 minutes with the board, in person and with appropriate social distancing, beginning at 5 pm and continuing until 9 o'clock.

They are: Charlene Upchurch-Taylor, Reverend Jimmy Reed, Alexandra Dermody, Tim Kelly, Jenner Kealey, Joan Moorhead, Ken Croken, Meisha Brown, Lori Janke, Catarina Bolton, and Jamie Snyder.

The board hopes to swear in a new member during its regular meeting on Monday night (8/24).

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
