Drive Through Job Fair

Sep 29, 2020

To make up for the pandemic and the cancellation of traditional job fairs, the state of Iowa is trying something new. During the summer IowaWorks, a division of Iowa Workforce Development, held a drive through job fair in Burlington and will hold a second one in Davenport on Wednesday.

Business Service Consultant Jamie McLaughlin says IowaWorks has collected flyers from 60 employers, and each person that drives through will be given a bag full of flyers for more than 500 jobs.

"We have everything from truck drivers, to health care, to retail, and hospitality. We have apprenticeship opportunities."

The job fair is open to Iowa and Illinois residents, and anyone who does not have a computer can make an appointment with IowaWorks for help applying for these jobs.

The drive through job fair will be held Wednesday at the IowaWorks office in Davenport, 1801 East Kimberly Road, from 11 am to 1 pm. And Iowa Lieutentant Governor Adam Gregg will be on hand to kickoff the event.

McLaughlin says additional drive through jobs fairs will be held next month in Clinton and DeWitt.
