Local health officials are warning people to look out for scams related to coronavirus and COVID-19.

Nita Ludwig, Administrator of the Rock Island County Health Department, says her agency and the Scott County Health Department have received reports about attempted fraud.

In the interest of social distancing, no public health officials or health care workers are going door to door. And if anyone does, call the police. The CDC and health care providers are also not calling anyone to arrange for future vaccines or medications. And people should notify law enforcement if they receive such a call.

The local health departments continue to emphasize social distancing during the pandemic. For example, don't visit older and at risk friends and relatives. Call them instead. People with the infection show no symptoms for several days and spread COVID-19 without knowing it.

And continue to follow the four "Cs." Clean your hands. Cover your coughs and sneezes. Contain infection by staying home. And call ahead so health care workers can protect themselves and others when you arrive.
