Democrats Appeal to Millenials

Congressman Eric Swalwell

A nationwide effort by the Democratic Party to connect with young people stops in the Quad Cities Thursday. Iowa Second District Congressman Dave Loebsack will host an appearance by California Congressman Eric Swalwell.

Swalwell, who represents a district just east of San Francisco, is chair of the Future Forum, a group of 26 young Democratic members of Congress. And their goal is to "bridge the gap between Congress and young Americans."

He and Loebsack will stop at the Freight House in Davenport at 12:30 Thursday, to talk about student debt, home ownership, workforce development, and other issues.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
