Deere Extends Tournament Sponsorship

John Deere will continue to sponsor the annual professional golf tournament in the Quad Cities. This morning at world headquarters in Moline, the company and PGA announced a seven year extension that will take the John Deere Classic through 2023.

The current agreement had one more year to run.
Jim Field, president of the Worldwide Agriculture and Turf Division, says a recent study shows the tournament has an economic impact on the Quad Cities region of more than 50 million dollars a year.
Deputy PGA Commissioner, Jay Monahan, says as part of the agreement with the PGA, Deere will continue as the Official Golf Course Equipment Supplier to the PGA Tour, Official Golf Course Equipment Supplier of the TPC Network, Official Landscape Product Supplier of the PGA Tour, and Official Golf Course Equipment Leasing Company.

You could say Deere is the "official everything" for the PGA Tour.

The tournament was first held in the Quad Cities in 1971, and Deere became the title sponsor in 1998.

The contract extension also ensures it will be held at TPC Deere Run in Silvis.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
