Deere Earnings on Wednesday

The long holiday weekend in the Quad Cities will start in the traditional way - with the year-end earnings report from Deere and Company. Its fiscal year ends in October, and results are issued the day before Thanksgiving.

In August, the company predicted full-year sales would drop about 6 per cent compared to the previous year, and that net income would come in at 3.1 billion dollars.

Yahoo Finance reports the average prediction from analysts who follow the company is for full year revenue of nearly 33 billion dollars (32.9) - down 6 per cent from last year's 35 billion. And earnings per share are forecast at 8-dollars and 35-cents - compared to 9-dollars and 9-cents a year ago.
Analysts cited by Bloomberg BusinessWeek are making very similar predictions - a penny higher ($8.36) for earnings per share, and higher annual revenue by 300 million dollars (to 33.3 billion).

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
