John Deere has opened a new training facility in Coal Valley.

David Reilly, Manager of Worldwide Training for the Construction & Forestry Division, says Deere built the new center to better meet its need for training at their site in Coal Valley.

“It gives us the ability to handle a lot more people, with some more technically equipped classrooms and some better facilities for students as well as customers that come out to the site for various events.”

Reilly says while the 7,500 square foot building is new, it serves to improve the training they’ve always offered there.

“We’ll do the diagnostic product capstone certifications for technicians in terms of how to maintain and repair the products, and then we’ll train our sales force in terms of the value the John Deere product brings to the customer base and how the products work and the specific applications that they’re designed for.”

Worldwide, the Construction & Foresty Division has about 70 people involved in training with about 55 of them based here in the Quad Cities.

John Deere currently has two training sites in the Quad Cities, with the other located in Davenport.
