Shareholders of Deere and Company will gather tomorrow in the Quad Cities, for the annual meeting at world headquarters in Moline.
The agenda includes mostly routine items, such as hiring auditors and approving executive compensation. All 12 directors are up for election, including chairman and ceo Sam Allen and the newest member of the board, former Nebraska governor and US Senator, Mike Johanns. He also served as Secretary of Agriculture under President George W. Bush.
Also on the agenda is a proposed change in the bylaws of the company that would allow stockholders to call for special meetings - if they represent at least 25 per cent of the voting shares. Currently only the chairman, or the board, can call for a special meeting.
