After working around the clock for more than two months, the renovation of a Davenport school is finished. Thursday afternoon, the district will celebrate with a ribbon cutting at Truman Elementary School.
Principal Mary McMeekin says re-modeling the interior of the 36-year old building cost 7 million dollars.
McMeekin says one goal of the project is to have room for future growth - and now Truman School has enough space for a fourth section at each level, pre-K through 5th grade.
It also now has a geo-thermal heating and cooling system, and the swimming pool has been filled in and converted into new music and art rooms.
Truman first opened in 1978 for special education students, then was converted into a general education school in 1993. Nearly 400 children now attend classes there.
