Davenport's municipal pools will not open this summer. Monday the city announced that "out of an abundance of caution," Dohse, Fejervery, and Annie Wittenmeyer pools and aquatic centers will be closed.
The Parks and Recreation Department says more than 24,000 people visit the pools each summer, making it easy for COVID-19 to spread. And it would be hard to sanitize all the surfaces and maintain social distancing.
Decisions have not been made yet however on whether the splashpads and sprayparks in Centennial, Peterson, Cork Hill , and Goose Creek parks will open during the summer.
