Davenport Open Checkbook

Davenport's "checkbook" is now online and accessible to anyone.
Finance Director, Brandon Wright, says this week, the city began using some new software that makes it possible to look up, and see details, of the hundreds of checks written by the city each week.
Wright says payroll information is also accessible - by job title or by the employee's name, and by regular pay versus overtime.

City staff has wanted to make this information available for several years, but until now could not find software that would be user-friendly and not require vast amounts of staff time to prepare.

We hope it builds trust between the city and residents.

The Davenport city council will hear a presentation on this "open checkbook application" at Wednesday night's meeting.
The application is available at city checkbook dot davenport today dot com, and soon will be accessible from the city's website. (http://citycheckbook.davenporttoday.com)

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
