Davenport voters have an opportunity to hear from candidates running for city office. The first city candidate forum will be held Tuesday night at the downtown Davenport Public Library. Six mayoral candidates, as well as 17 people running for alderman, have been invited and plan to attend.
Susan Meenan, from co-sponsor Iowa Women United, says women's issues will be the focus of the forum.
"We are doing the mayors first, we've got prepared questions for them and we've dedicated the first hour to the mayor interviews and questions. Then, the second hour we've divided the aldermen by ward."
Davenport aldermen who are running unopposed in the October primary election will not attend.
The Davenport City Candidates Forum is sponsored by Iowa Women United, the local chapter of AAUW, Quad-City Moms Demand Action, and Humility of Mary.
Marcia Lense, a news anchor with KWQC TV, will moderate the forum that runs from 5:30 to 8:00 at the downtown Davenport Public Library.
