Courthouse Fight Assigned to Peoria County Judge

A judge from Peoria will preside over the Rock Island County courthouse demolition case.

Late last week, the Illinois Supreme Court sent a letter to the chief judge of the 10th Judicial Circuit.

It instructed him to assign a judge to hear the complaint filed in the neighboring 14th circuit.

Chief Judge Walter Braud is an outspoken supporter of demolition. He made the request to the supreme court for an outside of circuit judge.

Peoria Circuit Judge Jodi Hoos has been assigned to the case, known as "Landmarks Illinois versus the Rock Island County Board."
