Cournoyer Running for Iowa Senate

Cournoyer for State Senate

The owner of a small business and president of the Pleasant Valley School Board is running for the Iowa Senate. Last week, republican Chris Cournoyer, from LeClaire, announced her candidacy in District 49 which is now represented by democrat Rita Hart.

Cournoyer says she's "passionate about strengthening our economy, our schools and our communities."

She also serves as a reserve deputy for the Scott County Sheriff's Department, president of the Quad City Engineering and Science Council, and is a member of the Governor's STEM Advisory Council.

A resident of Wheatland, Hart was first elected to the Iowa Senate in 2012, and re-elected in 2014.
District 49 includes Clinton County and northeastern Scott County.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
