CareLINK Services Resume

Churches United of the Quad City Area

After a year without rent and utility assistance in three local cities, it's available again. CareLINK has resumed serving Davenport, Moline, and East Moline.

The service of Churches United depended on another social agency to answer phone calls from people in need, but that agency pulled out of the service. Now, CareLINK has a social work intern who will answer calls. In celebration, Churches United held a public event at St. Anthony's Church in Davenport last night.

Associate Director Betsy Vanausdeln says CareLINK can assist people in dire financial need.

"People who need assistance with rent and utilities can call for CareLINK funds. We pay up to a certain amount. They speak with one of the CareLINK networks - depending on what city they live in as they have to go to that corresponding CareLINK, and they can receive funds to help them out."

People can get help from CareLINK once a year, with funding from over 100 churches throughout the Quad Cities.

CareLINK never ceased operations in Rock Island, Bettendorf and northern Scott County.
